Bad Beat Brewing 3rd Anniversary

Anniversary Partayy!!

This past weekend, Couple o' Brews hit up the third anniversary party for Bad Beat Brewing. Bad Beat is in the Henderson Booze District on Eastgate.  This brewery has been spreading their beer all over town, particularly by canning and distributing to grocery stores.  You may have seen their Bluffin' Isn't Weisse or the Gutshot Stout.  In their taproom, they carry different brews, and have been releasing limited stock of some new beers, like the Queen of Hearts or the Pillow Fight, which we have reviewed in our videos!!
The Anniversary party had the classic Bad Beat beers featured, as well as some rare release deliciousness. They had two bars, so no long waits!! One of the bars was in the brewery, so you got to experience being in the brewery setting.  The other was in their regular tap room with different beers at each bar.  Due to the weather being almost 120 degrees, its hard to keep that place cool, but the beer was cold, and it was flowing freely.

What beers you ask?

  • Triple IPA- This was an easy drinking Triple IPA, that goes down smooth.  With the high alcohol content this could be dangerous with how drinkable it was.  The Triple IPA featured Simcoe hops, which came through in the flavor of bitter and clean grapefruit.
  • Joker Anniversary Ale- a Belgian Golden Strong.  This brew was aged in Chardonnay barrels for four months.  This beer had an expressive yeast, with lots of fruity esters that complimented the Chardonnay barrel flavor. The mouthfeel was thick and viscous with a sweet full flavor.
  • Rally Cap- a Vienna Lager which was true to style, a clean, crisp, and malty lager.
  • Pillow Fight- a NE style IPA which we have the rating and description here.
  • Queen of Hearts- Berliner Weisse featured in last week's start to the Summer Sour Series.
  • BA Heater- This beer was out by the time we arrived, but it's an Imperial Milk Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels with serrano peppers, gimme that spice!

Foodies and Friends

In addition to beers, they had a food truck from Dazzling Bistro. I feel like these guys are always at the best beer events, spreading their positive vibes, beer promotion, and of course, delicious and dazzling cuisine. My parents joined us for some beers, food, and good times. We played Exploding Kittens (one of Justin's favorite games) and of course I lost first, and my dad, Roger, won. Figures. All in all, the anniversary party was a warm but fun environment, packed with cool people and some awesome beers.  What a great celebration for three full years of brewing and drinking. Cheers to three years Bad Beat!
